With 4,700 acres (19.02 km²) and a main runway 13,500 feet (4,115 m) long, Moses Lake is one of the largest airports in the United States. Moses Lake is famous for good flying weather, as it is located on the east side of the Cascade Mountains, in the semi-arid desert of central Washington State.

Grant County International Airport was one of the alternate landing sites for the NASA Space Shuttle due to its geographical location, favorable weather, and runway length, and it is frequently used for flight test programs and military training. Million Air Moses Lake is a testing site for the Boeing Flight Test programs to include the 777-X and 737 MAX 10 programs. Additionally, Million Air Moses Lake provides fuel to all military aircraft and is certified to perform rapid refueling.

The main campus for Big Bend Community College is also located adjacent the airport with their world-class flight school and aviation maintenance programs.

Million Air Moses Lake is just 45-minutes from the Gorge Amphitheater which is located on the Columbia River and considered one of the most scenic concert venues in North America.
